Our Story
Akamba Handicraft is one of Kenya's most famous artisan cooperatives, renowned worldwide for its intricate wood carvings. Founded in 1961, the cooperative brings together hundreds of Kamba woodcarvers who transform African ebony, mahogany and rosewood into stunning animal sculptures, masks, furniture and decorative pieces. The Changamwe workshop and showroom is a must-visit — watch master carvers at work and purchase certified fair-trade pieces.
